Modern Hookahs

Minimal glass and steel pipes with open draws and far less to clean.

The design difference

Modern hookahs strip away the ornament: a glass base, a straight stainless stem, one hose port. Fewer joints means fewer leaks, and no painted or plated surfaces means nothing to chip. They also clean in a fraction of the time an ornate traditional stem takes.

The draw

Wider bore, lower resistance. A modern pipe pulls easily, which suits dense dark leaf as well as lighter molasses. The flip side is that an open draw moves more air over the bowl, so heat management matters more.

Glass bases

You can see the water, which sounds trivial until you have smoked a session on water that should have been changed. Glass is also inert: it holds no flavour between sessions.

Our models

A 48cm glass and steel pipe for table height, and a 55cm version with an LED base for evening and outdoor use. Both use standard grommets and hoses.

Maintenance

Rinse the base after every session and brush the stem weekly. There are no crevices to trap residue, which is most of the appeal.

Frequently asked questions

How does a modern hookah differ from a traditional one?

Wider, more open draw, simpler construction and far less cleaning. Traditional pipes have narrower stems and more ornament.

Is the glass base fragile?

Modern bases are thick and stable. The benefit is that you can see the water clearly.

Does the open draw affect flavour?

It moves more air over the bowl, so heat management matters more. Start with fewer coals than you would on a traditional pipe.

What does the LED model add?

A lit base, useful outdoors at night and easier to see the water level. It does not affect the smoke.

Do standard hoses fit?

Yes, both models use standard fittings. A grommet set covers small variations.
