Dominican Cigars
Smoother, more refined cigars in corona and robusto formats.
The Dominican character
Dominican tobacco is generally smoother and less peppery than Nicaraguan, with a creamy, slightly nutty quality. It is the tobacco most often recommended to people moving from occasional cigars to regular ones, because it rewards attention without demanding a tolerance for pepper.
Wrappers change everything
The same Dominican filler behaves very differently under different wrappers. A Connecticut shade wrapper keeps it light and creamy; a Maduro, fermented longer, brings cocoa and dark sweetness and pushes the cigar to medium-full.
Formats
Corona for a measured hour, robusto for something shorter and fuller. Our Robusto Maduro runs 127mm at 50 ring gauge with a smoking time of around 45 minutes.
Who they suit
Anyone building a first collection, and anyone who finds full-strength cigars tiring. They also work better than bold cigars earlier in the day.
Keeping them
A humidor at 65 to 70%. Cigars stored well improve over months; cigars stored in a dry cupboard do not recover.
