Description
Why brass
Stainless steel is easier to clean and aluminium is cheaper, but brass is the material traditional hookahs were made from and it behaves differently. It is dense, so the base does not shift when you draw hard, and it holds heat evenly rather than warming and cooling in patches.
The patina question
Brass darkens. Some owners polish it back to a bright gold; others let it age to a deep bronze and consider that the point. Neither affects how it smokes. If you want a finish that stays identical for years, choose stainless.
How it smokes
The wide traditional stem gives an open, unhurried draw. That suits a long session with friends more than a quick solo bowl — this is a hookah for an evening, not twenty minutes.
Cleaning a brass stem
Warm water and a brush set after every session, then dry it thoroughly. Do not leave water standing inside, and avoid harsh acidic cleaners which attack the metal. Brass tolerates neglect less well than steel, and a stem that is put away wet will show it.
What you need alongside it
A bowl, coconut charcoal, a heat management device or foil, tongs and cleaning brushes. The mouthpiece set matters if the hookah is shared.
Where it sits in the range
Above the Traditional 76cm in price and weight; the Mini and Travel models are for convenience rather than ceremony.
Frequently asked questions
Why choose brass over steel?
Weight, stability and tradition. Brass is denser and holds heat evenly; steel is easier to keep looking new.
Will it tarnish?
Yes, brass darkens over time. Polish it or let it patina — neither affects how it smokes.
How do I clean it?
Warm water and brushes after every session, then dry thoroughly. Avoid acidic cleaners and never store it wet.
What else do I need?
A bowl, coconut charcoal, tongs, foil or a heat management device, and cleaning brushes.
Is it suitable for one person?
It works, but the open traditional draw and size suit group sessions. The Mini Hookah Set is better for solo use.
