Description

Why two blades

A single blade pushes the cigar sideways as it cuts, which is what crushes the cap and loosens the wrapper. Two blades closing simultaneously apply pressure evenly from both sides, so the cap is sheared cleanly rather than squeezed.

Where to cut

Just above the cap line — the visible shoulder where the cap meets the body of the cigar. Cutting below it removes the structure holding the wrapper in place, and the cigar unravels as you smoke.

Technique

Seat the cigar, line up the blades, and close them in one quick motion. Hesitation is what tears wrappers, not force. If you are nervous, cut slightly less than you think: you can always take more, but you cannot put it back.

Ring gauge

Rated to 60, which covers everything in our range including gordos. A cutter too small for the cigar cannot close fully and will crush it.

Maintenance

Keep it dry, use it only for cigars, and wipe tobacco oils off the blades occasionally. Stainless steel holds its edge for years with that much care.

Alternatives

The V-Cut takes a wedge instead of removing the cap, which suits firm-drawing cigars. Many smokers keep both.

Frequently asked questions

Why is a double blade better?

Both blades close at once, applying even pressure. A single blade pushes the cigar sideways and can crush the cap.

What ring gauge does it handle?

Up to 60, which covers gordos and everything below.

Where exactly should I cut?

Just above the cap line. Cutting lower removes what holds the wrapper together.

What if I cut too much?

The draw becomes loose and the wrapper can unravel. Cut conservatively; you can always take a little more.

How do I look after it?

Keep it dry, use it only on cigars, and wipe the blades occasionally.
