Description

The risk this removes

A lithium cell carries its charge on the outside of its casing. Drop one in a pocket with keys, coins or another battery and the terminals can bridge, which produces a dead short. Lithium cells failing this way vent, get extremely hot and can catch fire. It is the single most common serious accident in vaping, and it is entirely avoidable.

What the case does

Isolates each cell in rigid plastic so nothing can bridge the terminals, and protects the wrap from tears — the other precursor to a short.

Why two

Dual-battery mods need matched pairs, and most people carrying spares carry two. A pack of two also means one lives in a bag and one at home.

Habits worth building

Spare cells always go in a case. Damaged cells are retired rather than 'used up'. Batteries are charged where you can see them, not overnight beside a bed. None of that is expensive or difficult, and together it removes almost all of the risk.

Travel

Airlines generally require spare lithium cells in cabin baggage, in protective cases. Check your airline's rules before flying.

Compatibility

Sized for 18650 cells; check the specifications if you use 21700 batteries.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I need a battery case?

A bare cell can short against keys or coins, which makes lithium batteries vent or catch fire. A case isolates the terminals.

How many cases are in the pack?

Two.

Which batteries fit?

18650 cells. Check the specifications if you use 21700 batteries.

Do I need one if I only have one battery?

If you ever carry it outside the mod, yes.

Can I fly with vape batteries?

Airlines generally require spare cells in cabin baggage, in protective cases. Check your airline's rules first.
