Small on purpose
A full-size hookah packed for one person wastes tobacco and charcoal, and takes twenty minutes to set up for a session you may smoke for thirty. A mini scales all of it down: smaller bowl, less water, one or two coals, and a setup that takes a few minutes.
The trade-off
A shorter stem means less cooling, so the smoke arrives slightly warmer than from a 76cm hookah. It is a real difference and worth knowing, though most people find it a fair price for a hookah they will actually bother to set up on a weeknight.
Heat is more critical here
A small bowl scorches faster. Start with one coal, not two, and move it before the flavour sharpens. A heat management device helps more on a mini than on a full-size hookah, because the margin for error is narrower.
Water level
Just above the downstem, as always — which on a mini means a surprisingly small amount. Overfilling is the most common mistake and makes the draw feel blocked.
Cleaning
Quick, which is half the appeal. Rinse the base and stem, brush the stem, dry it. Five minutes rather than fifteen.
