Casa Ejemplo Habano Double Corona

The longest format we stock

A double corona is a deliberate choice. Ninety minutes is the minimum and two hours is common, which makes it a cigar for an occasion rather than a habit. In exchange you get the fullest development available: a cigar this long changes character several times before it is done.

How it evolves

The Habano wrapper carries the opening with pepper and spice. Through the middle the filler takes over and the cigar broadens. The last third is where full-strength tobacco concentrates, and it is noticeably more intense than where you began.

Pacing a long cigar

Slower than you think. A puff a minute is the rule for any cigar, and it matters more here because there is more cigar to overheat. If it gets hot early, the last third becomes bitter rather than rich.

Practical realities

Do not start one outdoors in wind, and do not start one you cannot finish. Relighting a double corona after a long break is the quickest way to waste an expensive cigar.

Storage

Humidor, 65 to 70%. Long cigars are also more vulnerable to handling damage: support the length rather than gripping the middle.

For a shorter evening

The Habano Corona is the same profile in an hour.
