The problem with traditional hoses
Leather and fabric hoses cannot be washed. Moisture sits inside them, flavours build up, and after a few months a mint bowl tastes faintly of whatever you smoked last month. Silicone solves that completely: run water through it, hang it to dry, done.
Draw
The bore is wide, which keeps resistance low. On an open modern hookah that gives a very easy pull; on a traditional Egyptian stem it balances the tighter draw of the stem itself.
The handle
