What a box is for

Two things, and they are different. As a gift it carries weight that a single cigar does not. As a purchase for yourself it is a supply — ten cigars is two months of weekend smoking, which changes how you store them.

Medium strength, deliberately

A box you will share is better at medium strength than full. Guests vary in tolerance, and a full-bodied Nicaraguan handed to someone who smokes twice a year ends badly for them and wastes a good cigar.

Storage becomes necessary

One cigar can live in a tube for a week. Ten cigars over two months need a humidor at 65 to 70%, or the last few will be noticeably drier and sharper than the first. Our 25-count Walnut humidor is the sensible companion purchase.

Presentation

The box is designed to be given as it is. If you are gifting, add a cutter and a torch lighter: most people receiving cigars do not own either, and a box without them is frustrating.

For an occasion

Ten cigars covers a small gathering. Allow an hour per cigar and somewhere to sit outside, and make sure there is a proper ashtray with wide rests rather than a cigarette tray.
